Roll Up Banner Printing in Vancouver
A roll up banner is the fastest branded surface you can put in a room. Lift the graphic out of the base, click the pole into the top rail, done. Under a minute, no tools, and a corner of a lobby is suddenly yours.
Our basic retractable banners are the straightforward version. Aluminum base, single sided print, padded bag. No upgrades you do not need and nothing that has to be assembled on site.

Roll Up Banner Size
Our standard graphic runs 33 inches wide by 79 inches tall. That is the size most venues, booth spaces and lobby corners are laid out around, and it is tall enough that the message sits above the heads of anyone standing in front of it.
Retracted, the whole unit collapses to roughly 33 inches long and about 3.5 inches square. It fits in a car trunk, in an overhead bin, or behind a filing cabinet between uses.
If your space needs something narrower or shorter, tell us the dimensions before you build artwork and we will confirm what we can produce.
What Block Out Banner Film Does
Basic refers to the hardware, not the print. The graphic runs on the same equipment as everything else we produce.
We print on a block out film, which matters more than it sounds. Block out has an opaque grey core, so light from a window or a spotlight behind the banner does not glow through and wash out your artwork. Cheap stands without it look transparent the moment they are backlit.
The film also has a non curl edge treatment, so the sides stay flat instead of rolling inward after a few retractions. Finish is matte, which keeps overhead office lighting from throwing a glare stripe across your logo.
Aluminum Base, Not Plastic
This is the one place where cheap stands actually fail. A plastic end cap cracks the first time the unit gets dropped into a car trunk, and once the roller housing is out of alignment the graphic retracts crooked.
Our basic stands use an aluminum housing with a hybrid pole, part telescopic and part bungee cord, so it snaps together in the right order every time. It is the entry level stand, but it is not disposable.
Where Basic Banner Stands Work Best
These are built for regular use rather than constant use. They are the right call for:
- Office lobbies and reception areas where the banner goes up once and stays
- Retail floors and seasonal promotions
- Pop up shops, market stalls and vendor tables
- Open houses, job fairs and recruitment events
- Community events, fundraisers and club nights
- Clinics, studios and offices displaying services or hours
- Any campaign where the message changes before the hardware wears out
If you need one banner, occasionally, in a controlled indoor space, this is the correct product and spending more would not buy you anything useful.
When to Choose Premium Instead
There are three situations where a basic stand is genuinely the wrong tool.
If your team sets up and packs down most weeks, the mechanism will wear faster than the print. If the banner has to be readable from both directions because it sits in an aisle rather than against a wall. Or if you plan to change the message seasonally and want to keep the hardware.
All three point to premium retractable banners, which use a heavier base and let you swap the graphic without replacing the stand.
For anything genuinely outdoors, neither one works. Use a vinyl banner instead.
Roll Up Banner Artwork and Safe Areas
This is where most roll up banners go wrong, and it has nothing to do with print quality.
Two parts of your design will not be visible in use. The top few inches disappear into the rail clamp, and the bottom of the graphic feeds back into the cassette. Build for that:
- Set your document to the full 33 by 79, then add roughly 2 inches of extra background at the bottom that feeds into the base
- Keep all logos and text at least 2 inches clear of the top edge
- Treat the bottom 12 inches as decorative only. At an event that height is blocked by tables, chairs and people
- Put your headline between roughly 50 and 70 inches from the floor line, which is standing eye level
- Logo at the very top or in that same eye level band, not fighting the headline
- One call to action, and only one
For files, send a print ready PDF in CMYK with vector logos where you have them, and raster images at 150 DPI at full size or better. We check bleed, resolution and safe margins before anything goes to print.

How to Store a Roll Up Banner
Retract the graphic fully into the base whenever it is not in use. A banner left extended in storage develops a permanent curve along the top edge, and no amount of re-tensioning fixes it.
Store the case flat or upright, out of direct sun, and wipe the film with a dry cloth. Never a wet one, and never a solvent cleaner.
Handled that way, a basic stand carries through a lot of events before it starts to show it.

Is a roll up banner the same as a retractable or pull up banner?
Yes. Roll up banner, pull up banner, retractable banner and banner stand all describe the same product. Different suppliers just use different words for it.
What size is a standard roll up banner?
33 inches wide by 79 inches tall is the standard we produce. Retracted, the unit is about 33 inches long and 3.5 inches square.
What is block out film and why does it matter?
It is a banner film with an opaque core. Without it, any light source behind the stand glows through and washes out the artwork. It is the difference between a banner that reads properly next to a window and one that does not.
Can I change the graphic later and keep the stand?
On a basic stand the graphic is fixed to the cassette, so a new message generally means a new unit. If you expect to update your message regularly, premium stands are built for exactly that.
How long does it take to set up?
Under a minute. Lift the graphic out, hook it onto the pole, slot the pole into the base. No tools and no instructions needed after the first time.
Can I use one outdoors?
Only in still, covered conditions like a patio or a tent. The base is light and the film is not weatherproof. A gust will take it over.
