Custom Foam Board Printing in Vancouver
Foam board is a rigid display panel built from a foam core pressed between two smooth paper faces. It stays flat, prints sharp and weighs almost nothing, which is why it turns up at trade shows, retail counters, weddings, conferences and office lobbies across the city.
We handle foam board printing in Vancouver from our own facility and ship across Canada and to select U.S. cities. Same material and same finish whether you need one presentation board or a full set for a retail rollout.
Foam Board Sizes and Thickness
Standard foam core runs 3/16 inch thick, roughly 5mm. A half inch board is available when a sign has to stand on its own or take heavier handling.
Sizes we produce most often:
- 11 x 17 for counter and tabletop signs
- 18 x 24 for directional and event signage
- 24 x 36 for welcome boards and retail promotions
- 36 x 48 for presentations and trade show panels
- Up to 48 x 96 for large wall panels
Custom sizes and contour cut shapes are available. Boards print single sided for wall and easel use, or double sided for hanging and free standing displays where both faces get seen.
How Foam Boards Are Printed
Foam boards are printed direct to the surface with UV cured inks. The ink sits flat, cures instantly and holds colour without soaking into the paper face. Foam board is usually read from close range, so edge detail and text clarity matter far more here than they do on a banner.
Matte or gloss lamination is optional. It adds scuff resistance and protects the printed face through transport and repeated setup.
How to Mount and Display a Foam Board
Foam board is light enough to mount without hardware. Most clients use one of these:
- Tabletop or floor easels
- Removable adhesive strips or hook and loop tape for walls
- Standoffs for a cleaner, more permanent look
- Hanging wire, hooks or zip ties for suspended signs

Foam Board vs Corrugated Plastic and PVC
Foam board is the right call for indoor use where weight and clean presentation matter. It is not built for rain, wind or long sun exposure.
For anything exterior, corrugated plastic, PVC and aluminum composite hold up far better. Those live on our outdoor sign boards page.
For street level promotion that gets moved in and out daily, a sandwich board is the sturdier choice.
For large wall coverage, a vinyl banner or a large sticker covers more area per dollar and rolls up for storage.
Foam Board Artwork and File Setup
- Supply files at 300 DPI at final print size, or vector wherever possible
- Add a quarter inch bleed on all sides
- Convert to CMYK and keep critical text away from the trim edge
- Size your type for viewing distance. A board read from ten feet needs much larger text than one read from two

What is foam board made of?
A foam core sandwiched between two smooth paper faces. That structure gives it real rigidity at almost no weight, which is why it mounts and travels so easily.
Is foam board the same as foam core?
Yes. Foam board, foam core and foamcore all describe the same material. Some print shops also call the finished piece a mounted poster or a presentation board.
Can foam board be used outdoors?
Only briefly, and only under cover. The paper face absorbs moisture and the board will warp or separate in rain. For anything exterior, go with corrugated plastic, PVC or aluminum composite.
How long does a foam board sign last?
Indoors and handled reasonably, a foam board holds up through repeated events and seasonal campaigns. Lamination extends that noticeably.
Can foam boards be cut to a custom shape?
Yes. Boards can be contour cut to a logo outline, an arch, a circle or any shape supplied as a vector cut path.
Do you print single and double sided foam boards?
Both. Single sided suits wall and easel placement. Double sided suits hanging signs, aisle markers and anything viewed from two directions.
